OECD held its annual Ministerial Council Meeting in Paris on 15-16 May 2007

The Ministerial Council Meeting was chaired by Spain's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, Pedro Solbes, with Japan and Poland as vice-chairs.  Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, Mr. Paavo Väyrynen was head of the Finnish delegation.

The overall theme in the MCM was "Innovation: Advancing the OECD Agenda for Growth and Equity". Issues which were discussed included globalisation, growth, equity and innovation and the future challenges for an open global trading system. Ministers discussed also enlargement of the organisation and enhanced engagement with selected non-OECD countries and made a decision to start membership discussions with Chile, Estonia, Israel, Russia ans Slovenia.

The OECD Forum - "multi-stakeholder summit" - was organised in conjunction with the annual OECD Ministerial Meeting. It took place 14–15 May and brought together leaders of governments, business, labour, civil society and the media to debate the issues on the Ministerial agenda.
