Minister Risikko attends the OECD Ministerial Conference in Paris

Ministeri Paula Risikko Minister of Social Affairs and Health Paula Risikko will lead Finland’s delegation at the OECD Ministerial Conference in Paris on 29–30 May. One of the main themes to be discussed at the conference is inequality. Further themes include creation of workplaces, active labour market policy and the status of public institutions.

At the conference Minister Risikko will speak about the importance of a stable and sustainable public economy and of a strong welfare system based on equality in tackling inequality.

In her address Minister Risikko will also draw attention to a Finnish project to promote the employment of persons with partial work ability and their staying on at work. This project is unique internationally since a comparable action programme has not been carried out elsewhere. The purpose is to provide persons with partial work ability an opportunity to work by eliminating obstacles to their employment and tailoring the services provided for them so as to form an effective whole.

- Improving the labour market situation of people with partial work ability in the present difficult economic situation is a challenge. New operating models are necessary since, with the ageing of the population, we’ll need all capable people in working life, says the Minister.
