Government of Finland agrees to provide 1.7 million euros more for education sector in Nepal
Finland will continue the support to the education sector in Nepal. The Ambassador of Finland Jorma Suvanto signed a grant agreement of 1.7 million euros on Wednesday 16th March in the Ministry of Education in Kathmandu.

Some 30 suspicions of misuse of development cooperation funds every year
In 2015, a total of 30 suspicions of misuse of development cooperation funds were reported to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs: five via an external whistle-blower system and 25 via internal channels. The Ministry takes all suspicions of misuse very seriously and alleged cases of misuse are always examined.

Nepal's forest cover increased by more than five percent
The Finland funded Forest Resource Assessment Project results has been launched. It provides a comprehensive insight into the forests of Nepal and wide range of national level information of forest cover, growing stock, biomass, forest carbon and biodiversity status. The project results will help the Government of Nepal and concerned stakeholders in decision-making towards sustainable forest management.

Studying in a tent
A devastating earthquake in Nepal in April 2015 hit a small mountain village of Irkhu hard. Only five buildings in the village were not destroyed. Nine months after the quake Irkhu Secondary School is still evacuated into tents and corrugated iron huts. There is no running water and the cold breezes from Himalaya make studying very challenging. School's Students Committee is still very active and strives towards their goal to make the school and the whole village more children friendly.
