The five Nordic Foreign Ministers welcome Kofi Annan’s readiness to serve a second term as UN Secretary-General

The Foreign Ministers of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden warmly welcome the Secretary-General’s announcement of his preparedness to serve a second term as UN Secretary-General.

His leadership and personal commitment have been crucial in revitalizing the United Nations through a comprehensive programme of reforms. He has strengthened the Organization's work in the field of economic and social development as well as its role in the maintenance of international peace and security. The Nordic Foreign Ministers would especially like to commend the Secretary-General for his peace diplomacy.
