Swedish Foreign Minister Laila Freivalds visits Finland

Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs Laila Freivalds will visit Finland on 10 May at the invitation of Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs Erkki Tuomioja.

The ministers will discuss current issues regarding the European Union and, in particular, the Intergovernmental Conference. The situation in the Middle East, Iraq and Afghanistan are on the agenda as well.

In addition, the ministers hold a joint seminar at the Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre in Hanasaari. At the seminar both ministers are going to give a presentation on foreign and security policy in an enlarged Europe. They held a similar seminar in Stockholm on 15 April, where Tuomioja discussed the situation of Finnish foreign and security policy and Freivalds discussed the Swedish situation.
