President Tarja Halonen visits India

President Tarja Halonen will participate in the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS) organised by TERI in India on 31 January – 2 February 2013. President Halonen will speak at the Leadership Panel of the DSDS Summit. This year the theme of the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit is “The Global Challenge of Resource Efficient Growth and Development”. During the Summit President Halonen will have a meeting with Professor R.K. Pachauri who is the Director General of the TERI institute.

During her visit to India President Halonen will also have meetings relating to her new role as a co-chair in the High-Level Task Force for the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD). She will meet Mr. Jairam Ramesh, Minister of Rural Development and Ms. Krishna Tirath, State Minister, Ministry of Women and Child Development. President will also have programme relating the WWF projects in India and in South Asia.
