Minister Väyrynen to make an export promotion trip to India

Paavo Väyrynen, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, will make an export promotion trip to India on 27–31 October. The Minister will lead a 25-person business delegation consisting of company representatives from the sectors of energy and environment technology, infrastructure and engineering, prefabricated building, transport, logistics and services as well as finance companies.

The purpose of the trip is to strengthen Finland’s profile as a country with a high level of expertise and an interesting investment site as well as to promote the marketing of Finnish know-how and the exportation of Finnish products and services to India, especially in the case of the companies represented in the business delegation.

The Minister and his delegation will take part in the Delhi International Renewable Energy Conference, DIREC, to be held in New Delhi. The conference is expected to be the most important event on renewable energy ever arranged in India.

During his visit, Minister Väyrynen is expected to meet with, among others, Minister of New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah and Minister of Road Transport and Highways Kamal Nath, and also with other regional and state leaders. In addition, the agenda includes seminars and visits to companies.

On Thursday, 28 October the Minister and his delegation will travel to Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. Over the past few years, Hyderabad has grown into a major technology centre where also many Finnish companies have recently started or are starting operations. Minister Väyrynen is the first Finnish government minister to visit Hyderabad.
