Finland gives €6 million to support inclusive trade in the world's poorest countries
The Government of Finland is providing its first instalment of €6 million as part of its €10 million pledge for the second phase of the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF): Trade for LDC Development programme. The contribution will help the world's poorest countries to realize their trade potential, offering a route out of poverty and a path towards sustainable and inclusive development.

Klaus Korhonen becomes President of the ATT
Ambassador Klaus Korhonen has been elected as President of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) for the period of 2016–2017. The election took place in the Conference of States Parties (CSP) in Geneva on Thursday, 25 August 2016. The presidency will last for one year, ending in September 2017 at the third CSP.

UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities enters into force today
The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its Optional Protocol will enter into force for Finland today on 10 June 2016. Finland deposited its instrument of ratification with the UN Secretary General on 11 May 2016.

Biochemical engineer Frances Arnold wins Millennium Technology Prize

World Humanitarian Summit brings together world leaders in Istanbul
The first-ever international humanitarian aid summit, led by the UN, will be held on 23 and 24 May in Istanbul. Prime Minister Juha Sipilä, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Lenita Toivakka and Minister of Social Affairs and Health Hanna Mäntylä will attend the meeting.
