Lively discussion on COVID-19 recovery, Aid for Trade and circular economy – “aid for trade can play an important role in boosting economic growth while supporting sustainable development goals”
The Permanent Missions of Finland, Kenya, the Netherlands and the International Trade Centre (ITC) held in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra and the Institute of European Environmental Policy (IEEP) a session at the WTO Aid-for-Trade Stocktaking Event on March 24 2021. The session focused on how aid for trade can support sustainable economic recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic and transition towards circular economy. The idea was to have different perspectives such as government and inter-governmental, private sector and research, on the topic.

Advance voting abroad in Finland's municipal elections in 2021
The municipal elections will be held on Sunday 13 June 2021. The Act on the Postponement of the 2021 Municipal Elections entered into force on 29 March 2021. The advance voting period will be from 26 May to 8 June in Finland and from 2 to 5 June abroad.

The Mission hosted a virtual event on Circular Economy and Services trade.
To bring new perspectives to the discussion on Circular Economy and trade, the Permanent Mission of Finland, the Services and Investment Division of the World Trade Organization, the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) hosted a joint webinar on the role of services in the transition to Circular Economy on March 4, 2021.

Upcoming event on Circular Economy and Services Trade, March 4 2021.
Transition to a low-carbon circular economy provides a powerful tool for climate change mitigation and simultaneously brings new economic opportunities by supporting new business models, trade and job creation, and can enhance the role of developing countries. The interlinkages between services and Circular Economy have not yet been studied extensively. To fill in the space, the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra and the IISD published a report Trading Services for a Circular Economy, aiming at compiling new data and providing insights on Circular Economy services and services trade.
