Limited reception of residence permit applications to resume in Finnish missions abroad
Due to the coronavirus epidemic, Finland suspended the reception of ordinary visa and residence permit applications starting on 19 March 2020. The reception of ordinary visa applications continues to be suspended but activities relating to residence permit applications were gradually resumed in the missions on 16 June 2020.
Finland suspends the reception and processing of ordinary visa and residence permit applications in the missions
Owing to the coronavirus outbreak, Finland, in line with the rest of the Schengen countries, has suspended the reception of normal visa applications in Finland’s missions with immediate effect from 19 March until further notice.
Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Mykkänen leads a Team Finland visit to the United Arab Emirates
Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Kai Mykkänen will lead a Team Finland visit to the United Arab Emirates on 16-19 January 2017. He will be accompanied by a delegation of 20 companies representing mainly the energy and construction sectors, including smart building.
Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Toivakka leads a Team Finland trade mission to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia
Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Lenita Toivakka will be accompanied by a delegation of nearly 40 business representatives on a Team Finland mission to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 31 October to 2 November and to Saudi Arabia from 2 to 4 November. The delegation comprises representatives from healthcare, education and cleantech businesses.
Changes in Finland’s network of diplomatic missions
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is continuing its review of Finland’s network of diplomatic missions in 2013. The changes are driven by the operational budget cuts and the Government programme’s effort to strengthen Finland’s presence in the regions and countries whose importance is growing.
Minister Väyrynen made a successful visit to the Persian Gulf
Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are among the biggest markets for the Finnish technology industry. Between 14 and 20 January, Minister Väyrynen made a visit to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait accompanied by a large business delegation. The purpose of the visit was to promote bilateral trade with the countries in question. In the United Arab Emirates, Minister Väyrynen also participated in the World Future Energy Summit, a conference on renewable energy.
Minister Väyrynen to make an export promotion trip to the Persian Gulf
Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Paavo Väyrynen will go on an export promotion trip to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait on 14–20 January. The Minister will be accompanied by a business delegation of more than 40 people representing the IT, construction, logistics, metal engineering, education and industrial sectors.
