Finland was highlighting the status of people with disabilities in connection with the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa by means of concerts and a seminar. There are at least 80 million disabled people in Africa, who suffer from lack of human rights and resources.

Voter education for deaf in Zambia
As general elections 2011 are getting closer, civic organizations and donors are activating minority groups to vote. Special attention is paid to groups easily left outside society, like deaf and handicapped persons, and even women, as there is still a lot of work to do when it comes to gender equality in Zambia.

Ahtisaari: Employment of the youth is a global priority
President Martti Ahtisaari considers employment of the young as a global priority. ”Young people must have options for crime and terrorism,” Ahtisaari said to Finnish opinion leaders in an event organised by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
