State Aid Announcement: Support to Agriculture development among Smallholder farmers in Zambia
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland (MFA) invites applications for state aid to support agriculture development among smallholder farmers in Zambia. The proposals must be submitted to the Embassy of Finland in Lusaka by 4.12.2013 at 12:00 hours.

Simpler method introduced for calculating short stays on a Schengen Visa
Short stays in the Schengen Area are calculated according to a new method starting from 18 October 2013. When the maximum short stay and its follow-up period was previously calculated in months, it is now calculated in days. In practice, the change does not have a significant effect on the movement of ordinary passengers. The change is based on Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council 610/2013/EU.

Applications now accepted for the free Millennium Youth Camp
Talented high school students from all over the world will once again come together in Finland when the fifth Millennium Youth Camp kicks off in June 2014. During the week-long camp, young people aged 16–19 who share an interest in science, mathematics and technology will conduct scientific sustainability projects under expert guidance, while also learning about Finnish innovations and research carried out by businesses and universities.

Development Policy Committee of Finland to visit Zambia
The Development Policy Committee (DPC) members will visit Zambia between 27th of October and 1st of November. The DPC is an advisory body appointed by the government of Finland to follow and evaluate Finland’s activities in various policy areas, which influence the developing countries.

Call for proposals: Fund for Local Cooperation
The Embassy of Finland in Lusaka hereby invites Zambian organisations, institutions and companies to submit project proposals to the Fund for Local Cooperation. The Embassy also welcomes proposals from Malawi and Zimbabwe. Deadline for applications is Friday 4 October 2013.

The Nordic and African countries gathered at Aulanko in summery surroundings
The Nordic foreign ministers met this weekend, 15–16 June, with their colleagues from eleven African countries. The meeting was hosted by Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja. In addition to the Nordic countries, the participants came from Benin, Botswana, Ghana, Lesotho, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia. The themes discussed at this meeting were the Nordic welfare state, inclusive economic growth and Africa’s conflicts.
