The Embassy of Finland in Kyiv is looking for a motivated and results-driven individual to join our Development Cooperation Team as an Adviser from the beginning of June onward. Adviser participates in the implementation of the Finnish National Reconstruction Plan and the Development Cooperation Country Programme guiding Finnish cooperation in Ukraine. Adviser takes part in programme implementation and facilitates the cooperation between Finland and Ukraine.

The Embassy of Finland in Kyiv is looking for a motivated and results-driven individual to join our Development Cooperation Team as an Adviser from the beginning of June onward.

Adviser participates in the implementation of the Finnish National Reconstruction Plan and the Development Cooperation Country Programme guiding Finnish cooperation in Ukraine.

Adviser takes part in programme implementation and facilitates the cooperation between Finland and Ukraine.  

As a Development Cooperation Adviser, you will:

- Establish and maintain relationships with local counterparts with the help of your vast networks and knowledge of the national context;
- Participate in the planning, preparation, implementation and follow-up of the cooperation programmes and initiatives between Finland and Ukraine;
- Follow developments in reconstruction in Ukraine;
- Prepare reports on different thematic and programme meetings;
- Prepare analysis on the development of the country;
- Participate in the Embassy’s public diplomacy and liaise with the government and regional authorities;
- Promote visibility of Finnish projects and cooperation in Ukraine;
- Coordinate, arrange and participate in visits, trips and events;
- Contribute to the Embassy’s daily work, such as occasional interpretation and translation in development cooperation related tasks and events;
- Any other tasks designated by the Ambassador.

To succeed in the role, you have:

- Higher academic education (Master / Doctoral degree / MBA) in a suitable subject (Social Sciences, International Relations, Economics, Education or similar);
- Min. of 5 years of professional work experience;
- Min. 3 years of experience in the field of development cooperation or with international organizations;
- Experience or expertise in some of the following fields: education, environment, civil protection or energy would be an asset;
- Understanding of and ability to contact and build networks with Ukrainian counterparts and international development partners;
- Understanding of political economy, transition, reconstruction and reform in Ukraine;
- Willingness meet cooperation partners and present Finnish projects and initiative including through public presentations/speeches;
- Fluency in English, in Ukrainian and good command of relevant tools (MS Office);
- Independent and proactive can-do attitude to your work;
- High integrity, curious mind and willingness to learn;

- Flexibility and adaptability;

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- For all applicants it is of utmost importance that you hold all relevant documents for employment under Ukrainian martial law, including the military book.
