Record participation at Finnish-Turkish Business Association meeting in Helsinki

The Finnish-Turkish Business Association's event attracted a record crowd. It was also attended by the former and incoming ambassadors to Türkiye.

The Finnish-Turkish Business Association organised an event at WTC Helsinki on August 16 in connection to the Annual Meeting of Heads of Mission, which took place in Helsinki from August 21-24. A record number of company representatives and industry stakeholders attended the event.

This year marks the third year of steady growth in trade between Türkiye and Finland. The enthusiasm for the event is a strong indicator of the growing trade volume between Finland and Türkiye. The 3-billion-euro milestone in bilateral trade is within reach by the end of the year.

As the ambassador at the Embassy of Finland in Ankara from 2019-2023, H.E. Ari Mäki was crucial in advancing trade relations between Türkiye and Finland. Based on his experience of four years in Türkiye, he gave a comprehensive presentation on relations between the two countries.

The event also gave the incoming ambassador Pirkko Hämäläinen a chance to introduce herself. She will take over her new role in Ankara on September 1, and already expressed her enthusiasm for participating in advancing relations between the two countries, including trade.

Our Commercial Counsellor Joona Selin also gave a presentation specifically about the trade relations between the two countries. He provided practical insight for companies, shedding light on the possibilities offered and challenges presented by the market.

Warm thanks to the participants and Finnish-Turkish Business Association for organising the event. You can contact Joona Selin at joona.selin(a)gov.fi for more information.
