New Talent Manager joins Team Finland in Istanbul

We have recently welcomed Sezin Ata as the Talent Manager in Business Finland Istanbul. Here is the interview where she tells about her career and her new post.


1. Could you tell us about your prior profession?

I was Senior Business Development Manager at Enterprise Singapore which is a government agency under the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry, connecting the ecosystems and supporting internationalization.

2. What is your connection to Finland?

While I didn't have a direct connection before, my personal values are very much aligned with Finland's focuses, such as work-life balance, caring about family, nature, sustainability, and education.

3. What made you join Business Finland?

I actually knew about Business Finland from my prior consultancy work. Overall, Business Finland's values and the job position description resonates with me. Hence, I think it was a good match:)

4. Is there any specific topic on your agenda that inspires you?

I think it is exciting to be the first Talent Manager for Türkiye and to be the bridge between Finland and Türkiye in terms of talent and startups attraction.

5. What is the best part of working for Business Finland so far?

I always like to work in international organizations and to be a part of one which really cares about employee well-being as well as work life balance is a first for my experience. On top of this, I also like to fact that I can spare sometime for learning which is encouraged in the organization.

6. What is the best thing about Istanbul?

Istanbul is a mix of Europe and Asia in all different platforms, whether it is food and culture or it is professional life. I think Bosphorus - which is the strait connecting Black Sea and Mediterrean - is so special and that view will never get old and something to be missed wherever you go in any part of the world.

7. You went recently to Helsinki. What is your best memory from Finland?

Of course, sauna and dipping into the cold sea is unforgettable:) actually it feels better than it sounds.

8. Is there anything else you would like to add?

It was great to learn more about how actually each city supports the talents and startups as well as its families, and this service is free of charge.
