Bilateral relations

Finland and Palestine enjoy very good relations. Finland supports Palestinian state-building both politically and through development cooperation. The overall objective is to contribute to a peaceful, negotiated solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which means the establishment of an independent, viable and democratic state of Palestine living side by side and in peace with the state of Israel.

Finland opened a representative office in Ramallah in 1999. Palestine has been represented in Finland since 1980s. Finland granted the Palestinian mission in Helsinki full diplomatic privileges and immunity in 2014. The same year the status of the head of the mission of the Representative Office of Finland in Ramallah was upgraded to the level of an ambassador.
