Responsibilities of mission

The main aim of the Embassy of Finland is to uphold and strengthen the relations between Finland and the Federal Republic of Nigeria as well as the relations between Finland and Benin and Ghana. In addition, the Ambassador of Finland in Nigeria is also Permanent Representative of Finland to The Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS).

The main emphasis is on the strengthening of trade and economic relations between Finland and West Africa. The Embassy coordinates the Team Finland network in close cooperation with Business Finland, helping the Finnish companies to gain market access and strengthening the trade relations between the countries. 

In addition, the consular and other services are provided to Finnish citizens in the region. The developments of the security situation of the region are monitored in collaboration with other Nordic and EU countries.
