The services of our missions abroad are available to your company. We provide up-to-date market information, facilitate establishing contacts and help in market access issues.
The services provided by the missions are part of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs’ business services. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is a member of Team Finland, a network of public sector actors providing internationalisation services to Finnish companies.
The Team Finland network in Nigeria assists Finnish companies in succeeding in the Nigerian market. Its services include:

The Team Finland network in Nigeria consists of the Embassy of Finland in Abuja, the Business Finland office in Lagos, and the Honorary Consulate of Finland in Lagos. Through our collaboration, Finnish companies receive valuable support and insights to help them grow, internationalize, and succeed in the Nigerian market.

Market information
Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa, and one of the most significant markets in the continent, but for many Finnish companies it is mostly a relatively unknown operating environment. The attractiveness of the country is boosted by its large and fast-growing population, young consumer base, ample natural resources and strategic geographical location in West Africa. Nigeria hosts a large and developing innovation and start-up ecosystem, and particularly Lagos has established its status as the regional hub for trade, investment and technology.
The topical emphasis in trade promotion in Nigeria are in ICT and digital solutions, energy, health care and circular economy. Areas of interest are reviewed and updated regularly, and are used to target Team Finland activies in those sectors that Finnish companies have the know-how and solutions suitable for the local demand. Defining priorities does not exclude trade possibilities on other sectors, and the Embassy does follow economic and market development in Nigeria with a wide scope even outside of priority sectors.
Entering the Nigerian market requires long-term planning, understanding local operating environment and reliable local partners. At the same time the need for new solutions and innovation is high, and correctly targeted the Nigerian market offers possibilities for the steady growth of trade. Our Goals
The goal of the Team Finland network is to strengthen commercial and economic relations between Finland and Nigeria, support the internationalization of Finnish companies, and increase awareness of the opportunities available in the Nigerian market. The network also aims to enhance Finland’s image in Nigeria and boost Finnish companies' interest in the country’s rapidly growing market.
Finnish honorary consulates
Honorary consulates complement Finland’s network of missions abroad, which consists of embassies, consulates general, consulates and liaison offices. Honorary consuls are private individuals who carry out consular functions on a part-time basis without remuneration. An honorary consul can advise Finnish companies on how to get information on local business culture and find business partners, among other matters.
