Foreign Minister Tuomioja to Georgia, Afghanistan and Tajikistan

Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja will visit Georgia, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. The visit will start from Georgia on 18 April. During his visit Tuomioja will meet President Mikheil Saakashvili and Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili. Their topics of discussion will include, for instance, the bilateral relations between the countries, regional and EU questions, as well as international issues. Tuomioja will also make a speech at the institute of strategic research and open the Honorary Consulate of Finland in Tbilisi.

Tuomioja will leave Georgia to arrive in Afghanistan on 19 April. There he will meet President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai and Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah. The topics of discussion will include the bilateral relations of the countries, the situation and development of Afghanistan, as well as the support of the international community to Afghanistan.

Tuomioja's last place of visit will be Tajikistan, where he will, on 19 and 20 of April, have discussions with Foreign Minister Talbak Nazarov about the relations between the countries, EU questions, and international topics. Tuomioja will also meet President Emomali Rakhmonov and Speaker of the Assembly of Representatives Saydullo Khayrulloyev.
