Our services 

The services of our missions abroad are available to your company. We provide up-to-date market information, facilitate establishing contacts and help in market access issues. 

The services provided by the missions are part of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs’ business services. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is a member of Team Finland, a network of public sector actors providing internationalisation services to Finnish companies.

Team Finland currently covers the Embassy of Finland in Bucharest and, as appropriate, Honorary Consuls in Constanta and Sibiu. Business Finland's regional office is located in Warsaw. The Embassy assists the subsidiaries and local representatives of Finnish companies operating in Romania in establishing contacts with local authorities and companies and Finnish companies interested in the market by providing basic information about the business environment in Romania. Globally, the Team Finland network promotes:

  • Internationalization of Finnish companies
  • Foreign investment in Finland
  • Finland's Country brand.

Market information

The Romanian energy sector, together with the ongoing green and digital transition, presents notable opportunities for investment and collaboration. The defence materiel industry is also a strategic priority, with development efforts supported in particular through the SAFE loan programme. While parts of the national infrastructure remain outdated, targeted investment plans—especially those aimed at upgrading the road network—are underway. Romania benefits from reliable telecommunications infrastructure and a strong supply of well‑educated, skilled labour, with labour costs remaining competitive by European standards. From a regional perspective, the country’s stable operating environment supports larger-scale investments, including those in manufacturing and other production-oriented activities.

Finnish honorary consulates

Honorary consulates complement Finland’s network of missions abroad, which consists of embassies, consulates general, consulates and liaison offices. Honorary consuls are private individuals who carry out consular functions on a part-time basis without remuneration. An honorary consul can advise Finnish companies on how to get information on local business culture and find business partners, among other matters.
