Finnish expertise in education and clean energy on agenda during Minister Tavio’s visit to Riyadh

Finland’s Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will attend a Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on 24–26 October.

The business conference, also known as ‘Davos in the Desert’, is organised for the seventh time. It invites international leaders to come together to discuss economy and investment and related current global questions. Minister Tavio will also attend the Saudi–EU Investment Forum in Riyadh. Finland’s expertise in the education sector and in clean energy solutions will be highlighted at the two events.

Minister Tavio will also meet representatives of the Saudi Arabian authorities and business life to discuss Saudi Arabia’s development plans and opportunities for Saudi-Finnish cooperation in different sectors. The growth potential of trade between Finland and Saudi Arabia will be highlighted in the discussions, alongside Finnish companies’ expertise in clean energy solutions, the circular economy, education and training, digitalisation, healthcare, and mining.

Minister Tavio views the visit to Riyadh as an opportunity to take part in international discussions on economy, investment and sustainable development and to highlight Finland’s strengths: “This is an opportunity to showcase innovative and responsible Finnish solutions and our expertise and to learn more about a market that is important to many of our companies.”

Finland’s Minister for Foreign Trade and Development will meet several Saudi Arabian ministers, including Minister of Commerce Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, who visited Finland at the end of last year.
