Acceptance procedure for public documents is simplified in EU countries
The EU Regulation on simplifying the requirements for presenting public documents will become applicable on 16 February 2019. The Regulation aims to reduce formalities and costs related to the acceptance of documents such as marriage and birth certificates.

In Finland, we are already feeling the impact of climate change in our neighbourhood. The Arctic region is warming twice as fast as the global average. As the current chair of the Arctic Council, Finland is pushing to reduce the emissions of black carbon. The Arctic cannot be saved without CO2 mitigation, but reducing black carbon would bring additional and more immediate results in slowing down the temperature rise. And saving the Arctic is needed to save the globe.

Prime Minister Juha Sipilä and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker met on 8 November in Helsinki. In their meeting, Sipilä and Juncker had a wide-ranging discussion on the development of the EU and the challenges it will face in the future. The leaders also discussed Finland’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, as well as the country’s priorities for the Commission’s new five-year work programme.
