Photographic storyteller

Caj Bremer’s photos from the early 1950s to the present day are attracting viewers to the Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki. If you’re not in the Finnish capital, check out our slideshow for a taste of the exhibition.

Born in 1929, Caj Bremer [whose first name is pronounced “ky”, rhyming with “my”] has made a lasting impression on Finnish photojournalism. His photographs, now in a retrospective on the walls of Helsinki’s Ateneum Art Museum, still make statements – even the pictures snapped half a century ago. His way of taking press photos is said to have influenced the whole profession.
