Antti Satuli, Secretary of State, passed away

Antti Satuli, 56, Secretary of State at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, passed away on Thursday, 17 April, after a sudden illness in Saariselkä, Lapland. Antti Satuli, attorney-at-law, joined foreign service in 1972 where he had a long and successful career. He was a prominent member of the trade policy department and had a key role in Finnish negotiations on EU membership.

He was the Finnish Ambassador to the EU in Brussels in 1995-2001. In 2002 he was appointed Secretary of State.

He is being missed by his wife and two children.
