The services provided by the missions are part of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs’ business services. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is a member of Team Finland, a network of public sector actors providing internationalisation services to Finnish companies.

Market information

Malaysia's efforts to attract investment and develop global economic relations have yielded results. The goal for the coming five-year period is primarily to increase production with high added value in sectors such as digitalization and the green transition. The outlook for economic growth has remained relatively stable. Uncertainties in the global economy are also reflected in Malaysia, which is partly protected by its strong domestic market and diverse export destinations. Increasing cooperation with neighbouring Singapore creates new opportunities for investment. Intensifying competition between great powers has benefited Malaysia in its pursuit of neutral cooperation in line with the country's own goals.

Objectives of the Team Finland network in Malaysia and Brunei 

Our goal is to strengthen the commercial and economic relations between Finland and Malaysia and Finland and Brunei, to support Finnish companies seeking entry into the market, and to make Finland and Finnish companies better known in Malaysia and Brunei. Our task is also to increase knowledge and interest in Finland in the rapidly developing markets in Malaysia and Brunei. 

Finnish honorary consulates

Honorary consulates complement Finland’s network of missions abroad, which consists of embassies, consulates general, consulates and liaison offices. Honorary consuls are private individuals who carry out consular functions on a part-time basis without remuneration. An honorary consul can advise Finnish companies on how to get information on local business culture and find business partners, among other matters.
