Finland supports the schooling of the most vulnerable children in Myanmar
Finland supports the follow-on financing of the World Bank’s Decentralizing Funding to Schools Project in Myanmar. The project improves the quality of basic education in different parts of Myanmar, especially aiming to support the schooling of the most vulnerable children.
Finland promotes women’s rights in Myanmar
Finland supports the Women and Girls First Initiative run by UNFPA (The United Nations Population Fund) in the conflict zones of Myanmar. The initiative brings together sexual and reproductive health and the related women’s rights, including the prevention of and response to gender-based violence.
Foreign Minister Soini to Myanmar
Minister for Foreign Affairs Timo Soini will visit Myanmar from 19 to 22 November. The Minister will attend the 13th ASEM Foreign Ministers' Meeting (ASEM FMM13) in Naypyidaw and meet State Counsellor and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi. He will also open the Embassy of Finland in Yangon.
International Women's Day: Cartoon competition raises awareness on women's rights in Myanmar
A cartoon competition was organized in Myanmar to mark International Women's Day. The competition entries reflect problems faced by many women and girls in Myanmar. Advancing women's human rights and gender equality is one focus area of Finland's support to Myanmar.
Finland to provide assistance to Myanmar flood victims
Finland granted EUR 400,000 on 17 August in humanitarian aid to the victims of the flooding and landslides in Myanmar. The support will be channelled to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies (IFRC) via the Finnish Red Cross. The support will be granted from Finland's development cooperation appropriations earmarked for humanitarian aid purposes.

Minister for International Development Sirpa Paatero to visit Myanmar
Minister for International Development Sirpa Paatero will visit Myanmar on 17–19 March. The purpose of Minister Paatero's visit is to promote bilateral relations between Finland and Myanmar as well as development cooperation in line with the country programme published in January.
Finland grants over EUR 46 million in aid to the world’s humanitarian crises
Finland will donate EUR 46.4 million in humanitarian aid to the world’s worst crisis areas. The aid, granted by a decision of Minister for International Development Sirpa Paatero on 13 March, will be directed to acute emergency situations in Syria and neighbouring areas, South Sudan, the Central African Republic and Ukraine. Efforts will also be made to alleviate human suffering in countries where protracted crisis situations exist, such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Afghanistan and Yemen
