The 5th consecutive World Para Swimming European Championships were launched with an Opening Ceremony taking place on Monday 13th August. Ireland's biggest-ever Para sport event also marks the biggest-yet team from Finland, with nine athletes taking part in the games.

Young Brazilian wins trip to Finland in Capital of Metal contest
Checking his email in early June 2018, a Brazilian student named João Vieira couldn’t believe his eyes: He’d won the Capital of Metal contest. He and a friend would go to Finland to attend the Tuska Open Air heavy metal festival in Helsinki.

Finnish photographer excels at depicting metal music
Perhaps it’s no surprise that Tina Korhonen, a photographer known for her portrayals of metal and rock culture (see slideshow), comes from Finland, a hub for metal music. She is nominated for Best Photographer in the 2018 Heavy Music Awards* (voting open until June 27).

Sunshine and delicacies in honor of the 100-year-old Finnish Defence Forces
The annual Flag Day of the Finnish Defence Forces was the cause for celebrations in sunny Dublin. The reception held at the residence was hosted by Ambassador Jaana Teckenberg together with Defence Attaché Colonel Janne Ilomäki. His 3-year post is coming to an end in July. This year also marks the 100th Anniversary of the Defence Forces.
