Finland to host NATO Hybrid Symposium in Helsinki

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence of Finland and NATO will co-organise the NATO Hybrid Symposium at the Santahamina military base in Helsinki on 12–13 December. The event will provide an overview of the topical issue of hybrid threats.

More than 100 representatives from the capitals of all NATO members and from Brussels will attend NATO’s second Hybrid Threat Symposium. Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will open the event with introductory remarks.

“We are proud of this opportunity to host the NATO Hybrid Threat Symposium in Finland. The theme of the event is very topical. NATO has a key role in countering hybrid activities,” Minister Valtonen says.

The symposium is a discussion forum for experts. NATO will be represented at the event by David van Weel, the Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges. The Hybrid Threat Symposium is the largest NATO event for experts held since Finland joined the Alliance.
