Minister Henriksson to attend meeting of Ministers for Nordic Cooperation

Minister Anna-Maja Henriksson, who is responsible for Nordic cooperation, will attend a virtual meeting of the Ministers for Nordic co-operation on Friday 19 April.

The ministers will consider the 2025 budget proposal and discuss opportunities for enhancing co-operation in transport and infrastructure in the Nordic countries.

Sweden, which is holding the Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2024, will pay particular attention to removing cross-border barriers and promoting freedom of movement between the Nordic countries during its Presidency. On Sweden’s initiative, the ministers are to focus on cross-border barriers related to taxation. Chair of the Freedom of Movement Council Anders Ahnlid has been invited to the meeting.

“Removal of cross-border barriers between the Nordic countries is an important part of Nordic co-operation. We have welcomed the role of the Freedom of Movement Council as an independent body tasked with promoting free movement in the Nordic Region,” says Minister Henriksson.

Removal of cross-border barriers contributes to achieving the common vision of the Nordic region as the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by 2030.
