A Finnish Honorary Doctorate for Dr. Slavica Singer
Dr. Slavica Singer, a professor at the J.J. Strossmayer University of Osijek and Program Director of the Graduate Program in Entrepreneurship will receive an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Turku on 14 May 2010 in Turku. Dr. Singer is one of eight persons to receive this prestigious title in 2010.

Moomin: 65 years of adventure
Swedish-speaking Finnish artist and author Tove Jansson’s first book about the beloved Moomin characters appeared 65 years ago. In honour of the anniversary year, we find out how and where the first Moomin was drawn, interview Jansson’s niece, Sophia, about the business of Moomin commercial rights and visit a Helsinki museum where you can walk through a Moomin picture book. Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor to Finland
The Prime Minister of Croatia, Jadranka Kosor, will visit Finland on Tuesday 13 April on the invitation of Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen. Prime Ministers Kosor and Vanhanen will discuss Croatia’s EU accession process, regional questions and issues relating to the economy and climate. Bilateral cooperation between the countries will also be addressed.

Finnish Minister of Justice Visited Croatia
Minister of Justice, Ms. Tuija Brax visited Zagreb on 15-16 March 2010. During her visit to Croatia, Minister Brax met with the Croatian Minister of Justice, Dr. Ivan Simonovic. The two Ministers discussed justice sector reforms in Croatia, related to EU accession negotiations.

Everyone’s input is needed to save the Baltic Sea
The Baltic Sea Action Summit to be held in Helsinki on 10 February is no ordinary summit. This gathering is made unique by its participants: leaders representing governments, the business community, NGOs and philanthropy. “This promises to be a fine and productive summit,” Jari Luoto, Ambassador for Baltic Sea Issues at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, said on Thursday at the press conference organised to provide background information about the summit.

Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb to visit Croatia
Foreign Minister of Finland Alexander Stubb will visit Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia and Croatia on 1-4 February. The Minister's visit will include meeting representatives of the local governments and members of the international organisations and crisis management operations present in the region. In Kosovo Minister Stubb will also get acquainted with the activities of the Finnish crisis management team.
