Scholarship for newly graduated journalists: Foreign Correspondents´ Programme in Finland

The Embassy of Finland in Zagreb would like to inform all Croatian students and recent graduates in journalism about following scholarship programme. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland offers scholarships for a Foreign Correspondents´ Programme which lasts one month (1-30th August 2008) and takes place in Finland. This programme provides an excellent opportunity to improve your professional skills and also learn more about Finland and Finnish society. One person per each country (18 countries included) will be chosen.

Who can apply?

The applicants should be newly graduated journalists or students of journalism, have good command of English and be from 20 to 25 years of age. The Programme includes travel to and from Finland, ticket for the local public transportation, accommodation in a single room in student dormitory and one meal per day.

How to apply?

The application should include following:

• application free of form in English (1 page)
• CV (1 page), including 2 passport photos (or a digital photo via email)
• essay or article (600-800 words) describing why you are interested about Finland
• copies of your published articles, transcripts or other work assignments

The Embassy of Finland in Zagreb will shortlist three candidates from Croatia. After this the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Helsinki will choose one from these three candidates.
