Let's make history together! Let's vote for #PKN #eurovision2015

The Eurovision song contest starts on Tuesday 19th of May in Vienna, Austria. Finland's song "Aina mun pitää" ("I always have to") is the shortest Eurovision tune ever (1.42 min). Moreover, the band, Pertti Kurikan nimipäivät (PKN), is the first punk band to perform at the Eurovision.

“The members of our band are four middle-aged, mentally handicapped men. The music is, of course, Finnish punk.” says Sami Helle, the bass player of PNK. The song (Link to another website.) (Opens New Window)itself has a strong and simple message:

I am not allowed to go to the computer
I am not allowed to watch television
I am not allowed to see my friends

In a way this song challenges us to question: What if people with intellectual disabilities didn’t always have to live in the middle of rules and restrictions? What if they had better possibilities to decide for themselves what to do and how to live? What if they really had the same rights as all of us?

The band Pertti Kurikan nimipäivät (PKN) has already built up a cult reputation all over the world. The band represents humanity, dissimilarity, human rights and of course good music. The documentary film about the band "Kovasikajuttu/The punk syndrome" is available with subtitles on the following link:(Link to another website.)
