Honorary Consul Branimir Vlajo Receives Decoration of Honour

The President of the Republic of Finland has awarded our Honorary Consul Branimir Vlajo the Insignia of Knight, First Class, of the Order of the Lion of Finland in recognition of his services to Finland and Finnish-Croatian relations. The decoration ceremony took place on 23rd of November at the official residence of the Ambassador of Finland, Ann-Marie Nyroos.

Branimir Vlajo has been Honorary Consul of Finland in Zagreb since 1993. Diplomatic relations between Finland and Croatia were established in 1992. Until 1997, when the Embassy of Finland in Zagreb was founded, the Ambassador of Finland in Budapest was accredited to Croatia. During the war years Mr. Vlajo was an important contact both for the Ambassador in Budapest and Finnish peacekeepers in Croatia.

Mr. Vlajo has been an important additional resource for Finland and the Embassy, especially in trade promotion and cultural cooperation. He has worked actively in developing the relations between Finland and Croatia. His extensive network and knowledge of local administration and business has been greatly appreciated.

Mr. Vlajo has regularly acted as a guide and adviser for visiting Finnish companies. He has taken the initiative in several cultural visits, concerts and exhibitions. Mr. Vlajo also has close personal relations to Finland.
