Food from Finland online service

Food from Finland is a web site dedicated to Finnish food and food culture. The new online service is designed to serve international companies, the media and other stakeholders.

Finfood (Finnish Food Information) is launching the Food from Finland online service to raise the pace in the rapidly growing Finnish food export sector and enhance international marketing. Marketing efforts will bring out three special strengths of Finnish food: tastiness, product qualities that support well-being, and straightforward national cuisine.

The marketing messages’ goal is to make Finnish food stand out in the target markets and to build the image of Finnish food in the long run. Finfood believes that the new online service can raise the pace in the already rapidly growing Finnish food export sector. "Finnish food exports hit a record high in 2006, and companies have invested heavily in the Baltic Sea home market. Finland can offer its international trading partners high quality products and acclaimed special expertise. You’ll find the Finnish food industry has a lot to say once we get the communication tools up and running,” says Tiina Lampisjärvi, Executive Director of Finfood.

The website is designed to serve international companies, the media and other stakeholders. The main target markets are Russia, the Baltic States, Sweden, Germany and Poland. At this point, the website serves in English. In the fall 2007, the information can also be found in Russian.

Marketing will be conducted through the website, newsletters and via event marketing practices.

The website is funded by the food industry, Finnish Innovation Fund (Sitra), Food and Nutrition Programme (ERA), and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Food from Finland’s start-up partners are Valio, Vaasan & Vaasan, Snellman, Saarioinen, Polar Shiitake Paulig, Myllyn Paras, Maustaja and Halva.
