Crisis Management NOW expo to discuss conflicts and peacebuilding in changed security situation

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland together with its partners will organise a Crisis Management NOW expo focusing on crisis management and peacebuilding. The event will take place in the Wanha Satama conference centre in Katajanokka, Helsinki, on Wednesday 22 May. It will be open to all and free of charge.

The unstable global security situation, wars and humanitarian crises, hybrid threats, and climate change raise concern and uncertainty about the future. In today’s volatile world, crisis management and peacebuilding play an increasingly important role in stabilising conflict-affected regions. How, why and where does Finland participate in international crisis management missions?

Join us at the Crisis Management NOW 2024 expo to hear about the state of play in international crisis management. The event will feature panel discussions with experts from the EU and the UN and with many other actors. Panellists will discuss topics such as crisis management support to Ukraine, the future of the UN peace operations and the EU Common Security and Defence Policy missions, as well as the role of Finland as security provider in military and civilian crisis management.

Visitors to the expo can participate in workshops, learn about applying for crisis management missions, and talk with experts who have served in the field. You will also meet Finnish state and non-state actors and companies involved in crisis management, peacebuilding, development cooperation and humanitarian assistance.

The event will be open to all and free of charge.

The panel discussions in English will run from 14.00 to 18.00 Helsinki time (13.00-17.00 CET) and will be streamed online. State Secretary Pasi Rajala will open the English language programme with a keynote speech at 14.00.
