Foreign Minister Tuomioja to attend 20th anniversary celebrations of Estonian re-independence

Estonia is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its re-independence on Saturday, August 20. In connection with the anniversary the Estonian Foreign Ministry and the Estonian Foreign Policy Institute are organizing a high-level roundtable discussion on Estonia’s past 20 years and the challenges that lie ahead over the next few decades.

Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja will participate in the high-level panel discussion that focuses on the challenges of the next 20 years ahead. The foreign ministers of all the Nordic countries and the Baltic states have also been invited to attend the panel.

During his visit Foreign Minister Tuomioja will hold bilateral talks with Icelandic Foreign Minister Össur Skarphéðinsson. The agenda for these talks includes Iceland’s EU membership process and Arctic issues.
