Music in the City concert celebrating 30 years of Austria, Finland and Sweden in the EU

The heart of Nicosia was filled with classical music from Johann Strauss Jr., Jean Sibelius and Adolf Fredrik Lindblad on the occasion of 30th anniversary of Austria, Finland and Sweden joining European Union. The public open-air concert “Music in the City” on 19 September 2025 was co-organised by Friends of Nicosia Association and Cyprus Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with Nicosia municipality, and supported by Embassies of Austria, Finland and Sweden.


Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of the talented Cypriot conductor Andreas Asiikkis, performed an elegant set of romantic works by one of the most known composers of each country.

The concert was also broadcast live on RIK 2 television channel. You may view the full concert on RIK website.

The wonderful open-air concert attracted hundreds of friends of classical music as well a wider audience all over Cyprus through live broadcasting. Embassy of Finland extends its gratitude to all partners and collaborators who made this magical event happen!
