Honorary Consuls' regional meeting in Helsinki

A total of 23 Honorary Consuls of Finland from ten countries of South-Eastern Europe visited Helsinki on 12-14 September 2023. Honorary Consul General of Finland in Cyprus, Demosthenis Z. Severis and Honorary Vice-Consul Zenon D. Severis attended the meeting from Cyprus.

Honorary Consuls of Finland in South-Eastern Europe met with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland Elina Valtonen

During the intensive programme of visits, Honorary Consuls had the opportunity to hear the latest updates on consular services, export promotion and country work. Honorary Consuls also met with Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen and Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio, among others, and were given a progress report on the autumn parliamentary work in a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament Jussi Halla-Aho. The discussions ranged from Finland as the happiest country in the world to the Finnish concept of total security.

Honorary Consul General of Finland in Cyprus, Demosthenis Z. Severis has been in office since May 1987. Prior to that, Severis served as Honorary Consul of Finland since 1979 and Honorary Vice-Consul since 1973. In total, his service to the Finnish state counts more than 50 years! Zenon D. Severis, son of Demosthenis Z. Severis was appointed as Honorary Vice-Consul in 2022.
