Minister Blomqvist attends meeting of Ministers for Nordic Cooperation
Minister for Nordic Cooperation Thomas Blomqvist will attend a meeting of Ministers for Nordic Cooperation on Thursday 10 September 2020. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the meeting will be held as a video conference.
The Ministers will discuss, among other things, next year’s budget and their respective experiences of the pandemic and its impacts on the Nordic cooperation. The Chair of the Freedom of Movement Council, Bertel Haarder, will visit the meeting and tell about topical questions relating to movement in the Nordic countries. The Ministers will also hear the auditing authority’s observations concerning problems in the introduction of the Secretariat’s finance system and in their reporting. Additionally, they will discuss the Western neighbourhood (United States, Canada, Great Britain and Ireland) programme of the Nordic Council of Ministers.
At this meeting, the Ministers will adopt the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Action Plan for 2021–2024. The Action Plan outlines in more detail the vision confirmed last summer. According to the new vision, the objective is to make the Nordic region the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by 2030. The draft Action Plan is available on the website of the Secretariat.
