H.E. Mr. Pekka Voutilainen, Ambassador of Finland to Vietnam Presents Letter of Credentials to the President of Vietnam
Hanoi, 3 October 2025 – The newly appointed Ambassador of Finland to Vietnam, H.E. Mr. Pekka Voutilainen, officially presented the Letter of Credentials from the President of the Republic of Finland to H.E. Mr. Luong Cuong, President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, at a formal ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi.
In his remarks, Ambassador Voutilainen conveyed the warm greetings of the President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb and expressed his deep honour in assuming the role of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Viet Nam. He reaffirmed Finland’s strong commitment to further strengthening the longstanding friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two nations.
President Luong Cuong welcomed Ambassador Voutilainen and congratulated him on his appointment. The President expressed appreciation for Finland’s continued support and cooperation, particularly in areas such as education, innovation, and sustainable development. Along with that, the two sides need to increase delegation exchanges at all levels to strongly promote bilateral cooperation, especially in trade, investment and tourism. He affirmed Viet Nam’s readiness to create favorable conditions for the Ambassador to fulfill his mission successfully.
On this occasion, the President expressed gratitude to the Finnish Government for creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study, and work in Finland. He also proposed that, in the time ahead, the Finnish Government continue to support the Vietnamese community in settling down, pursuing education, contributing to the host country, and serving as a bridge to strengthen the friendly relations between the two nations.
Ambassador Voutilainen emphasized his dedication to advancing bilateral relations, with a focus on innovation, green energy, circular economy, education, health tech and trade. He noted the significant potential for collaboration in emerging technologies and sustainable solutions, and expressed his aspiration to deepen people-to-people ties and cultural exchange between the two countries.
The ceremony marked the beginning of Ambassador Voutilainen’s tenure in Viet Nam, during which he aims to build upon the achievements of his predecessors and explore new avenues for cooperation in line with the shared values and strategic interests of both nations.
In thanking the President for the call, Ambassador Voutilainen expressed his wish to bring the relations and cooperation between the two countries to a new height during his tenure.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the President expressed confidence that the Ambassador would fulfill his duties with excellence, serving as a bridge of friendship and collaboration, and further nurturing the relationship between Vietnam and Finland.
Ambassador Pekka Voutilainen arrived in Hanoi on September 1, 2025. Before taking up the post in Hanoi, Ambassador Voutilainen has served as Head of Mission at the Embassy of Finland in Doha, and previously held diplomatic assignments in Riyadh, Ankara, New Delhi, Washington, Strasbourg, Bangkok, and Vienna. He also has diverse experience working for the private sector and trade promotion agency in Finland.
