Finland turned 101 years on Thursday 6th of December. Also Vietnam-Finland diplomatic relations were celebrated on the same day as the relations between Finland and Vietnam turned 45.
The staff of the Embassy of Finland in Hanoi and honorable guests celebrated independent Finland and the diplomatic relations at the Metropole hotel. The venue was chosen for a reason, as it is almost impossible to walk down the corridors without feeling the breeze of history. The first Finnish embassy and residence were located in Metropole hotel rooms 123 and 130. To commemorate this, a plaque was put on the wall outside the room 130 and was revealed on the Independence Day eve before the guests arrived. The Embassy also received a historical greeting: the already retired, first Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E. Mr. Unto Tanskanen sent a congratulative salutation to the Embassy.
In addition to the speech of H.E. Ambassador Kahiluoto, we had the honor to hear Deputy Minister, Mr. Bui Thanh Son speak at the event. The music was distributed by Seinäjoki city orchestra quintet. The Embassy received greetings from various ministries, institutes and organizations. A special thanks goes to our partners: DORANOVA, FCG., FINNSEA, Huhtamaki, NOKIA and Vaisala for sponsoring the event.
We would like to thank you for attending the Independence Day and diplomatic relations celebration and wish you a happy Christmas season.
