FCP for alumni starts on 10 June
ThisisFINLAND’s first Foreign Correspondents Programme (FCP) for alumni will bring to Finland ten journalists and media professionals who have participated in the programme in earlier years. The alumni programme will take place from 10 to 15 June. We aim to offer the participants an updated picture of Finland.

Dr. Raed Arafat awarded with the distinction of Commander in the Order of the Lion of Finland
The President of the Republic of Finland Mr. Sauli Niinistö awarded Dr. Raed Arafat with the distinction of Commander in the Order of the Lion of Finland to show the appreciation for his entire activity in the Romanian public sector and for the good cooperation with Finland. On the 16th of October, ambassador of Finland Mrs. Päivi Pohjanheimo organised a reception to congratulate Dr. Raed Arafat and to offer him the decoration on behalf of the President of the Republic of Finland.

Free Speech - better ideas! Freedom of Press celebrates 250 years in Sweden and Finland
On 2 December, Finland and Sweden celebrate 250 years of freedom of the press. On this date in 1766, the Riksdag (Swedish Parliament) adopted the Freedom of the Press Act, the first legislation of its kind anywhere in the world. In fact, it predated both the United States Declaration of Independence and the French Revolution.

In Finland child protection services function according to law and international treaties
