Antero Olin's Exhibition in Cluj-Napoca
Finnish painter and graphic artist Antero Olin's exhibition "On the Road" is opened 28.4.2009 in Galeria Casa Matei in Cluj-Napoca. The exhibition is organised by the University of Art and Desingn in cooperation with the Embassy of Finland in Bucharest. We are welcoming you to the opening ceremony of the exhibition and coctails on Tuesday April 28th at 6 p.m. at Galeria Casa Matei, str. Matei Corvin, nr.6, Cluj-Napoca. The exhibition can be visited until May 11th.

Halonen emphasises respect for human rights
The Council of Women World Leaders met in Monrovia, Liberia in March in connection with a large international colloquium on women's leadership chaired by President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of Liberia and President Tarja Halonen. Halonen was chosen as the new chair of the Council.

Travel broadens the Kalevala
February 28 marks Kalevala Day, the anniversary of the publication of Finland's national epic. A new exhibition shows how artist Akseli Gallen-Kallela planned a richly illustrated Great Kalevala volume, and how influences from as far away as New Mexico found their way into his depiction of Finnishness. Gallen-Kallela (1865-1931) was a prominent artist in the Golden Age of Finnish art.

The Rasmus will perform in Bucharest on February
One of the most successful artists of Finland, The Rasmus, will perform in Bucharest in the middle of February. The latest album, "Black Roses", was released in Finland on September 24, 2008. It sold gold, 150 000 copies, in its first week. The Concert is part of the "Black Roses" promoting tour, which includes over 30 cities in Europe.

Embassy celebrated ENO Tree Planting Day with the School 205
Finnish Embassy's attaché Hanna Kumpusalo, trainee Laura Lyytikäinen and cultural attaché Carmen Grigoras took part in Tree Planting Event that was organised in Bucharest School 205 on September 22nd. The day was long waited for and pupils had created wonderful programme around the Tree Planting Event.
