Honorary Consulate of Finland in Amsterdam opened

Dirk Petrus Witteveen, Managing Director at Transfennica Ltd, has been appointed as Honorary Consul of Finland in Amsterdam, with jurisdiction over the provinces Noord-Holland, Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel and Flevoland.

Mr. Witteveen holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Amsterdam. He has been working as Managing Director at Transfennica Ltd, a daughter company of the Spliethoff Group, since 2004.

Honorary Consuls contribute to the work of diplomatic missions with their local knowledge, networks and the prestige involved with the status of an Honorary Consul.  As a point of priority, Ambassador Päivi Kaukoranta looks forward to cooperation in promoting economic and financial relations and activities related to the promotion of the exports, investments and internationalisation of Finnish companies.

At the opening of the Honorary Consulate, Mr. Witteveen thanked the Ambassador for the appointment and stated that it will be an honour to act as Honorary Consul of Finland. Mr Witteveen is looking forward to promote the Finnish/Dutch relations on a wide scale in close cooperation with the Finnish Embassy in The Hague.

In addition to Mr. Witteveen, Finland’s Honorary Consuls are Mr. Martin Verbrugge in Terneuzen, Mr. Jan Valkier in Rotterdam and Ms. Helvig van De Laarschot- Jonckheer in Curaçao.
