Presidents of Finland and the Republic of Korea celebrate 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with an exchange of letters

Today marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Finland and the Republic of Korea. On August 24, 1973, Finland and the Republic of Korea formed official diplomatic relations through the exchange of notes between Helsinki and Seoul. Over the course of the past half a century the diplomatic, economic and cultural relations between our two countries have flourished.

The Presidents of Finland and the Republic of Korea exchanged congratulatory letters to celebrate the day of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. In his letter to President Yoon Suk Yeol, President of Finland Mr. Sauli Niinistö conveyed his warm wishes of prosperity and wellbeing of the Republic of Korea and its people. “Finland is looking forward to continue and deepen the excellent cooperation with Korea in sectors of mutual interest, like emerging technologies, green transition and cultural exchanges, to name but a few”, commented Pekka Metso, Ambassador of Finland to the Republic of Korea.

For Finland and Korea, the next 50 years together is about to begin.
