Finland-Turkey trade hits all-time high in 2021

Bilateral trade between Finland and Turkey hit an all-time high in 2021, according to data from Finnish Customs (Tulli). Last year Finland-Turkey trade in goods totaled 1 672 MEUR, up 27% from 1 317 MEUR in 2020. Service exports from Finland to Turkey recorded 143 MEUR (-7% from 2020) while service exports from Turkey to Finland 99 MEUR (+43% from 2020).


 

Goods and services combined, total exports from Finland to Turkey hit 1 092 MEUR, and exports from Turkey to Finland reached 822 MEUR. Total trade between our two countries grew 24% to 1 914 MEUR in 2021.

Finnish exports in goods to Turkey grew 24% from 2020 to 2021, hitting 949 MEUR. Top five categories for Finnish exports to Turkey were:

  1. Paper, paperboard, and articles thereof - 185 MEUR
  2. Pulp and waste paper - 138 MEUR
  3. Metalliferous ores and metal scrap - 108 MEUR
  4. Machinery for specialized industries - 69 MEUR
  5. Non-ferrous metals - 55 MEUR

Turkish exports to Finland at an even more impressive 31% from 2020 to 2021, reaching 723 MEUR. Top five categories for Turkish exports to Finland were:

  1. Road vehicles - 155 MEUR
  2. Articles of apparel and clothing accessories - 74 MEUR
  3. Electric machinery, n.e.s. and parts - 59 MEUR
  4. Textile yarn, fabrics, made-up articles, etc. - 49 MEUR
  5. Manufactures of metals, n.e.s. - 44 MEUR
