Support for local civil society organisations

Finnish civil society organisations are active in the development cooperation projects in Somalia. They have programmes in the fields of health sector, equality, education, freedom of speech, and environmental protection. There are 10 Finnish CSOs working in Somalia together with their local partners: Finn Church Aid, Save the Children, the Finnish Red Cross, World Vision Finland, African Care, the Deaconess Foundation, Physicians for Social Responsibility, the Martha Association, the Finnish Somalia Network, and the Finland-Somalia Association. In addition, the International Solidarity Foundation operates in Somaliland. The active Somali diaspora in Finland plays a vital role in the CSO projects.

In recent years, Finnish support for civil society projects in Somalia has been around €3.5 million per year.
