The Northern Dimension discussed in Madrid

Finland, Sweden and Spain organise a joint seminar on the Northern Dimension on 17 May in Madrid. The initiative came from the Spanish side. The participants of the seminar consist of representatives from the Ministries for Foreign Affairs, of the Enviroment, of the Health and Social Affairs and border authorities.

The central themes include the Northern Dimension Environmental Partnership and the Partnership in Public Health and Social Wellbeing, as well as cooperation in border security. Spain is interested to learn about the northern cooperation models that could be applied in the Mediterranean area and hear ideas on how Spain could participate in the concrete Northern Dimension cooperation.

Finland will, in turn, organise a seminar on the Mediterranean Cooperation in Helsinki in summer 2005.
