The Embassy wishes to inform customers that, as of 25.9.2026, the Embassy of Finland in The Hague will discontinue the mailing of passports and identity cards to customers.

The Embassy wishes to inform customers that, as of 25.9.2026, the Embassy of Finland in The Hague will discontinue the mailing of passports and identity cards to customers.

Once a passport or identity card has arrived at the Embassy, the customer will receive an email notification with instructions for collecting the document. As a general rule, passports and identity cards must be collected in person from the Embassy. If a customer is unable to collect the document personally, they may authorize another person or a commercial courier service to collect it on their behalf. The authorized person or courier must present a letter of authorization when collecting the document. The letter of authorization may be drafted in free form. More detailed instructions regarding the authorization letter will be provided by email once the document is available for collection.

Customers are responsible for selecting and arranging any commercial courier service themselves and must make all practical collection arrangements directly with the courier company. The Embassy does not arrange courier services on behalf of customers and cannot recommend any particular courier company.

For customers who have agreed on the mailing of their passport or identity card before the entry into force of this change, the document will be delivered in accordance with the previously agreed arrangements. Any mailing fees already paid will also be honored as agreed.
