The Embassy of Finland in Rabat is recruiting a Commercial Adviser

The Embassy of Finland in Morocco and Mauritania is looking for an expert in commercial and economic affairs to promote economic relations between Finland and Morocco. The expected start date will be in June 2023 or as agreed.

The Commercial Adviser will be based at the Embassy of Finland in Rabat and work in close cooperation with Business Finland in Casablanca. The Adviser will work under the supervision of the Ambassador and the Deputy Head of Mission, and have an important advisory and coordinating role between the key stakeholders, including local and Finnish institutions and public and private sector entities to promote increased trade relations. The Adviser will also be working on country promotion activities and public diplomacy.

The duties of the expert will consist primarily of:

  • Supporting Finnish companies by providing information and assistance with regulatory issues and market access in close cooperation with Business Finland
  • Preparing analytical reports on economic and trade policies and business opportunities in Morocco and Mauritania
  • Liaising and building networks with relevant institutional and enterprise actors both in Morocco and in Finland and facilitating their cooperation
  • Organizing business and country promotion events and delegation visits in good coordination with relevant parties;
  • Working on Finland brand promotion and communication, including developing social media content, presentations and other materials
  • Updating and maintaining relevant information in the customer relationship management (CRM) system

Requirements:

  • A solid understanding of Moroccan policies, decision-making, and business environment
  • Existing good networks in Morocco and experience of liaising with both public and private sector entities
  • Strong collaborator with excellent interpersonal skills, and flexibility and a client-oriented attitude
  • A solid work ethic with the ability to display initiative and work in a proactive manner
  • Fluency in spoken and written English, French and Arabic
  • Relevant educational background (such as a degree in Business, Economics, Social Sciences or Law)
  • Relevant work experience (with references)
  • Computer literacy, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, and fluency in different social media platforms

The position is for a permanent contract with a probationary period of three months, starting in 1 June, 2023. The terms and conditions of locally recruited staff and Moroccan labour law will apply.
